Women Connecting for Peace

Back in May of this year, we were lucky to meet one of the women running ActiveArt at one of our Tweet, Tag & Blog sessions. ActiveArt is a community arts organisation that works in the UK and internationally to create art for the promotion of human rights, social justice and egalitarian social change.

We received recently a wonderful email from the good people at ActiveArt, thanking us for our advice and guidance during our TTB session. Following that seminar, ActiveArt managed a project in Georgia where they worked with women affected by the recent war there.

One of the really exciting outcomes of that project is a blog that the women in the project started called Women Connecting for Peace. As it states on that blog, the blog “was created to generate discussion, share experiences and promote women’s participation in peace building and post-conflict resolution. It is part of an on-going process to build strong and lasting women’s connections for peace.”

Although the recent posts are only in Georgian (what a lovely script that is!), the previous posts have been translated to English. Well worth a read — and great to see social media being used for more than sharing our reviews of our latest cup of coffee!
